Following his resignation, Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit has scheduled a four-day visit to Punjab's border districts starting February 20. This marks his sixth tour to districts like Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, and Fazilka. The purpose is to oversee coordination between central and state security agencies and gather feedback from residents.
Speculation surrounding resignation continues
Despite tendering his resignation citing personal reasons, Purohit's continued engagement has sparked speculation about his future. His border tours, addressing issues like drug problems and illegal mining based on public feedback, have previously caused friction with the ruling AAP government.

During the upcoming tour, Purohit plans to meet with central agencies, state officials, and village defense committees to review progress since his last visits. The discussions will focus on improving coordination between central and state agencies to address border infrastructure, security, and drug trafficking challenges effectively.
Key participants expected
Senior officers from various agencies, including the Punjab Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, and heads of Border Security Force and National Investigation Agency, will join the tour. The aim is to facilitate discussions and gather insights to address border area issues at both the central and state levels.
